Getting the most out of SEO and PPC on Google

Google continues to adjust it’s ranking algorithms with regular updates that shake up the search engine results. This year more than ever there’s been a lot of discussion in the Internet marketing industry about what Google’s doing – the good, the bad and the ugly. But lately it seems more bad and ugly for many small businesses, search engine optimization service companies, and Internet marketers.

Webpronews published an article recently titled “Are You Getting More Out Of Paid Search Than From SEO?” about changes Google’s made to the Adwords reporting to compare organic and paid performance. Of course they make the bulk of their revenue from paid ads so like any business they’re going to try to grow revenue and that’s done through getting more people to use paid listings, getting more clicks from paid listings and getting more revenue per click.

Given this concerted effort by Google, it’s becoming more necessary for businesses to combine pay per click campaigns along with their organic search engine optimization. If you’re not already doing PPC, I would suggest you look into it. While I’ve longed championed SEO as the first and foremost Internet marketing effort that all businesses should utilize, Google is where most people go in search of products and services and if indications are PPC is more important than ever, it’s going to be necessary to add it to your marketing efforts.
